No alcohol, no junk food is the secret of my fitness: Jeevan Vas

"I am 62, but people say I look like 26. This is because I have maintained my fitness not by going to gym, but by not eating junk food and not consuming alcohol," said Jeevan Vas during the Thallo Umallo live programme on September 20 at Radio Sarang 107.8FM.

Mr Vas said that human life has two innings - before forty and after forty. “I have achieved a lot only after the age of forty,” he added.

2018- 19 was a lucky year for him. He acted in ‘Thum Vortho Dhonya’, a historical drama written by late Richie John Pais on the Biblical character Job Patriarch. Mr Vas played the lead role which he thinks gave him name and fame. The play ran into full house during all its nine shows. He has also acted in two movies, four serials, including a Tulu serial 'Ajane'.

He is popularly known as Dennu after his role in ‘Mrs Meena and family’, a Konkanni serial which went on to complete 53 episodes in Daijiworld television.

Mr Vas said that he had two bitter experiences during his college days. He was a victim for the fault of someone else, for which he was thrown out of the class. “I challenged my teacher and secured fourth rank from Mysore university,” he said.

In another instance, he was denied hall ticket for the third semester exams due to shortage of attendance. “But in the fourth semester I answered all papers of third and fourth semesters and challenged the vice chancellor of the university and kept my word by securing once again fourth rank in MSW from Mangalore University,” he said with a smile on his face.

Mr Vas has acted in over 50 Konkani dramas of late J B D'Souza from Kulshekar and also in works of other big, famed writers of Konkani. Even today he plays cricket and participates actively in many cricket tournaments, he said.

Mr Vas was born in Cordel and presently he lives with his wife Veronica and children and a grandson.

Callers from USA, Canada, Israel and India greeted him and wished him during the live show.
