Heart to heart dialogue with Mohan K. Bolar

Theatre personality and actor for over 50 years, Mohan K. Bolar was at Radio Sarang for a heart to heart conversation on Wednesday, July 7. Mr Mohan has acted in over 1000 historical, religious as well as comedy plays in Kannada and Tulu. His most celebrated plays include Megdi Pali, Non Veg, Lakki Babu, Kordabbu Kunita, among others. He has also acted in Tulu films such as Nemoda Bulya and Pilibail Yamunakka.

How does he manage to act with youthful spirits despit ageing? The secret he said was that he has not kept anger with anyone. "I love everyone and do not hate anyone," he said. 

It was the support he receieved from his family and children that helped him to come this far, Mr Mohan opined. "In fact, there was Nataka Sangha called Navodaya Sangha in Bolar during my youthful days. That Sangha helped me to hone my talent," he said. This Sangha also had members such as the famous Tulu thespian Aravind Bolar.

It has been long journey for Mr Mohan in the field of theatre. He has seen the days of plays being enacted under gaslights to now plays with sophisticated lights. From the days of plays behind screens to modern settings on stage, it has indeed an evolutionary long journey for him.

He has also acted in a TV serial broadcast on Chandana TV called Dharma Itti Mann as well as Podike being broadcast by V4 channel. He has also tried his hand in direction and script writing for many plays and has been instrumental in introducing young talent into theatre
