Konkani artists Dolhpy Saldanha, Adolphus Cutinha (Dolla Mangalore) and Liston D’Souza were the guests for the Talo Umalo live Konkani phone in programme on August 2.
The artists discussed about the evolution of Konkani Natak Sabha (KNS) and their journey in it.
Initially Mr Saldanha, the ex-vice president of KNS briefed the history of KNS and Don Bosco Hall which is being renovated presently. “The Natak Sabha has been contributing to Konkani drama field for the past 78 years and Don Bosco auditorium has given a platform for cultural expressions for the last 70 years,” he said.
Another guest Mr Cutinha (popularly known as Dolla Mangalore) said that he has been the active member in KNS for the last six decades. He also mentioned the names of dramas which were played in Don Bosco auditorium.
He also listed the popular names of directors and VIPs who visited Don Bosco auditorium in last 70 years. “Among them, the name of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India stands out,” he added.
The vice president of KNS Liston D’Souza explained about the renovation work of Don Bosco auditorium which is in progress and pleaded for the financial support from philanthropists to complete this venture.
It can be recalled that KNS was started by Jesuit fathers and later handed over to the Capuchin fathers.
