Narrowcasting on young warriors’ Covid response

Mangalore: Radio Sarang organised a narrowcasting programme in association with Community Radio Association and UNICEF here on August 5.

Dr Prasanna Mithra, Associate Professor, Department of Community Medicine, KMC Hospital Mangalore, was the resource person. He spoke on vaccination and its importance for youth, besides the Covid appropriate behaviour that youth must follow.

Dr Mithra said that while vaccines help in building antibodies against the virus, all must follow Covid appropriate behaviour till the entire population is vaccinated. “As vaccine is yet to come for those below 18 years, it is important that all of you follow strictly the guidelines to avoid getting infected,” he said.

Answering a question from the audience, Dr Mithra said that there are 25 per cent chances of even those who have taken two doses getting infected. “However, if you have taken two doses, your symptoms will be mild and you may not need hospitalisation,” he added.

Dr Melwyn Pinto, director of Radio Sarang proposed vote of thanks.

This programme was aimed at empowering adolescents and youth for COVID 19 response as #YounngWarrios

More than 25 students took part in the session.
