Radio Sarang hosts brave fishermen who saved life of fellow fisherman

Radio Sarang hosted on August 31 four of the fishermen who recently saved the life of a fishermen in the Arabian Sea during the high tides on a rainy day. The fishermen were Suryaprakash, Premprakash, Anil and Rithesh.

Rithesh narrated the incident as to what happened and how they managed to save the drowning fisherman. “It was tough for us to save the life of the fishermen. However, our only goal was that come what may we must save the life of a fellow fisherman,” he said.

They said that for the last 26 years they are into fishing and have saved many people who accidentally fell into river or sea. They also had lifted dead bodies from water.

One of the rare occasions was when they traced and lifted the body of Siddarth Hegde of Cafe Coffee Day who ended his life in the river Nethravathi.

They also expressed their dissatisfaction that many times the government is not very forthcoming in providing to the needs of the fishermen. They are left to fend for themselves during crises, they said.

Many listeners interacted with four fishermen. 

After the show all the four had a healthy chitchat with the Principal of St Aloysius College (Autonomous) Dr (Fr) Praveen Martis SJ. He congratulated the efforts of these brave youngsters and wished them well.
