Singing for Bollywood and Sandalwood is my next dream, says Nihal Tauro

Mangalore: Indian Idol – 12 finalist Nihal Tauro has said that singing for Bollywood and Sandalwood stars is his next big dream. He was interacting with listeners at a live phone in programme at Radio Sarang here on Friday, August 27.

Mr Tauro said that though he was the first one to represent Tulunadu in an Indian Idol reality show, he should not be the last one. “As a finalist, I will get a chance to share stage with future contestants. My wish is that I must be able to sing with another contestant from this part of Karnataka,” he said.

He was grateful to the people of Karnataka who voted for him in crores. “Without the support and love of all these people it would not have been possible for me to reach the finals,” he opined.

Speaking about the support from his family members, Nihal agreed that his dad was his first music guru. “It is from my dad that I learnt my initial music lessons. He was a choir master in our parish and he composed and sang. Hence, he was my big support. He encouraged me to take part in local reality shows which boosted my confidence to come to this level,” he added.

When asked why he always wore a plant around his neck, Nihal agreed that the plant gave him freshness. “I am a restless person and I need something to keep me calm. This plant that I wear around my neck gives me that energy to keep myself calm, especially when I sing,” he said.

As a piece of advice, he urged the upcoming singers to try hard and grab every opportunity that comes their way. “Nothing is impossible. If I who did not have that much training in music could come to this stage, anyone with some effort can make it. Singers must not give up easily,” he advised.

Scores of listeners interacted with Nihal from across the country. There were some ardent fans who called from West Bengal, Surat and even Dubai. Nihal agreed that such love from unknown people was overwhelming. He sang some melodious numbers at the request of several listeners.

Earlier, the management of St Aloysius College (Autonomous) honoured Nihal. Rector, Fr Melwin Pinto SJ said that he watched his videos over and over again. “You definitely have a velvet voice that lifts our hearts. May you grow to not just be a model, but also a trainer who nurtures other talents,” he said.
